Phnom Penh, March 29, 2024 - Almost 900 international tourists aboard the cruise ship "Viking Orion" visited Cambodia today, making a day-long stop at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province. The ship, which flies the Norwegian flag, measures 228.3 meters in length, 28.8 meters in width, and has a depth of 6.65 meters. It arrived from Thailand, bringing tourists from 18 different countries, with a significant majority of 707 Americans.
During their brief stay, a small group of three tourists opted for a journey to Siem Reap to explore the iconic Angkor temples, while the majority explored the cultural and natural attractions of the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk. The "Viking Orion" is not only notable for its vast array of international passengers but also for its diverse crew of 469 individuals hailing from 43 different countries, including 93 women. The ship is scheduled to continue its voyage to Vietnam this evening.
This visit is part of a growing trend of cruise ships docking at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, indicating a positive trajectory for maritime tourism in the region.
